Partner in the spotlight: Champi’Mer

Since the late 1990s, Champi’Mer has been active in the processing of mushrooms. Over the years, the company has grown into a global player and is now regarded as the world market leader in frozen mushrooms, holding a significant market share.

As a producer within the food industry, everything at Champi’Mer revolves around continuity, quality, and scalability. This requires stable processes and reliable partners. On behalf of Oosterwolde Plastic Industry, we spoke with purchaser Richard Roodbeen, who has over 30 years of experience in the industry.

A partnership that grows together

We have been working with Champi’Mer for more than 15 years. In their daily operations, we supply blue film used to produce bags for a 10-kilogram bag-in-box system, as well as large liners on rolls for octabins in various sizes.

Due to Champi’Mer’s strong growth, the use of these materials has increased significantly in recent years. During our conversation with Richard, it became clear that quality, price, and consistency are decisive factors. Quality is assessed not only upon delivery but continuously throughout use in the production process.

Planning, delivery, and process

To ensure smooth production at Champi’Mer, we work on a call-off basis. Multiple deliveries are scheduled in advance, and as soon as a new call-off is placed, we immediately initiate new production orders. This requires clear agreements and short lines of communication between customer and supplier.

Those short lines are firmly in place. Champi’Mer maintains direct contact with our Sales Manager, Michael van Veldhuizen, as well as with our Customer Service team. According to Richard, price alignment, order processing, and logistical handling run smoothly and efficiently.

Solving challenges together

What characterizes this partnership is the way we deal with challenges. When a technical or logistical issue arises, we do not resolve it from a distance. Instead, we visit on-site and work together to find the best solution.

A concrete example is a tube optimization project in which we modified the cores so they now fit the machines better. Through a joint and project-based approach, adjustments were implemented to ensure stable and optimal production performance. Exactly how we believe a collaboration should work: practical, solution-oriented, and built on dialogue.

Partnership as the foundation

According to Champi’Mer, the strength of our collaboration lies primarily in true partnership. Supplier and customer share a common goal: a stable and efficient production process. Over the years, we have optimized the ordering process together several times, ensuring that feedback was genuinely implemented.

Champi’Mer considers Oosterwolde Plastic Industry a reliable partner within its production and logistics chain. Quality, clear agreements, and a willingness to think along form the foundation of a long-term collaboration — and we are proud of that.
